DROID RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola - 4G LTE
Motorola's Droid Razr Maxx HD is one of Motorola's finest creations yet. While it may be a little heavier than some people like their phones, that comes with an advantage: it is sturdier. You do not need to protect it from everyday use with a special case, and if you drop it accidentally, it will still be working just as well when you pick it back up. The device has even been splash-proofed with a water-repellent coating, so if you accidentally spill a glass of water and some of it gets on your phone, no harm done.
The 4.7-inch HD AMOLED screen is stellar. Its 1280 x 720 resolution displays everything on the screen clearly, with no pixelation or graininess. The level of detail this phone brings to its images has to be seen to be believed. Whether you are watching a movie or looking through Facebook profile pictures, you will be amazed by the picture quality. There are very few physical buttons on the phone, which leaves more room for the screen. the only buttons that aren't on-screen are the power key and the volume rocker. Speaking of the volume, the external speaker on the Razr Maxx HD is one of the best. It plays nice and loud without being tinny. Set your phone on a counter while you're doing chores and it can play your music loud enough for you to hear as you move around.
The phone runs "Jelly Bean," or Android 4.1.1, and while other phones tinker with Jelly Bean or put their own user interfaces over it, Motorola leaves it alone for the most part. They make just a few changes, including on-screen back and home buttons and a dock for your favorite apps. If you like Jelly Bean and the way it looks, don't worry. The changes Motorola make here don't overload the screen or make it look clunky.
The phone comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera facing front, perfect for video chat, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back of the phone, complete with LED flash. The rear-facing camera's strength is taking pictures quickly, with very little shutter lag. Taking pictures of antsy targets has never been easier. You can also use a variety of filters and shooting modes to make your picture look just like you want, whether you want to capture panoramic view or make it look like you are in an old black-and-white movie.
The battery life is another standout. While other smartphones may need to be plugged in multiple times a day to keep going, the Razr Maxx HD can go a full day on a single charge, even longer if you are only using it occasionally. Even on LTE, which can use up a phone's battery quickly, Motorola's battery lasts longer.
