LG Optimus G
The LG Optimus G has a simple, elegant design - nothing flashy or over-the-top but attractive nonetheless. It's a lovely look for those who prefer substance over glamour. Glass coats both the front and the back covers for a cool futuristic look.
The phone's 1280 x 768 screen is a slightly higher resolution than most HD displays, giving your photos just that extra edge of crispness. The colors are vivid, image details are clear, and the display is pleasantly bright. It easily measures up against fancier smartphones as far as the quality of the display.
The speed of this Sprint phone's processor is excellent, faster than many high-end smartphones, thanks to using a quad-core processor instead of the more traditional dual-core. If you're ever irritated by slow processing speed, picking up this phone will ensure you'll never have to deal with that again. Stream HD video smoothly without hiccups. If you'd prefer, you can download those videos to your phone - you've got plenty of room. The Sprint edition of the Optimus G doesn't have a microSD slot, but it does come with 32 GB of internal storage already in it, so download away! Once you've done that, you can connect your phone to your TV through DLNA and watch your videos on your big screen.
With this phone, you can take advantage of Sprint's constantly growing 4G LTE network and the incredibly fast data speeds it involves. The Optimus G is on the cutting edge of technology in more ways than just its available networks, however. This is the first phone to make really good use of Near Field Communication technology. It ships with two NFC-enabled stickers, or "tags," that you can use in connection with your phone. Customize the tag, put it where you want it, and when you want to use it, simply tap your phone up against it. Use it at work to pull up reminders for the next day, or in your car to automatically turn on your GPS. This aspect of NFC has barely been explored in other smartphones, so you can have fun playing around with all the possible uses of NFC tags.
Android 4.0.4 is the operating system that ships with the phone, with just a few changes from LG. Their overlaid interface is unobtrusive and useful, with very little bloatware taking up your space. The apps available with the phone include programs for stock tracking, scheduling, email, and taking notes. The app set is convenient, productive, and ideal for use on a business phone. There are very few entertainment apps on the phone, so you can seek out only the ones you want to use.
The Optimus G for Sprint has a 13-megapixel camera and several fun camera-based features, including the "Cheese Shutter," which allows you to choose one of five words that will voice activate the device. Get that perfect family photo by propping up the phone against a wall or on a mini tripod, then get in place with everyone else and simply say, "Cheese" - the phone will go ahead and take the picture.
