How do I switch to Verizon Wireless from at&t, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Alltel?
Are you stuck with a carrier for the past few years and not sure if you can switch to another carrier? Now switching between carriers just get easier. If you are with Sprint now and want to know how to switch to Verizon Wireless with your existing phone number, then all you need to do is to bring the following information from your Sprint account: account number, name and address of account holder, account holder's SSN or Tax ID and PIN or password (if applicable). For online transactions, you are required to have a credit card. When switching carriers online with a new phone purchase, make you indicate that you want to bring your existing number to the new account.
So, how long does this process take?
It can be as fast as just a few minutes if you provide all the correct existing account information and are approved for the new account. One way to check is to call the number and if the old phone still picks up that number, it means the new phone is not yet activated. Switch to Verizon Wireless is no difference than switch to at&t or t-mobile. You are still required to get credit approval first and then port the number over.
What if I have more than one number to bring over to Verizon?
You might want to bring a couple of individual numbers or 5 line from a family plan to the new account. In that case, you need to activate the primary number or whichever number you want to be primary first with a Verizon family. Then you can switch all other individual numbers to the new Verizon account. Please keep in mind that the family plan has a limit of 5 numbers in total.
Since Verizon has the largest 3G (EVDO) in North America, switching to the new network will certainly give you more places to talk, surf internet, and check emails.
